“We don’t want people to perceive us as surfaces supplier brand.”

In 2015 Caesarstone commissioned me to do the creative direction, design and production for their installation at Super Brands during London Design Festival, to celebrate the launch of thirtyfour new colours.

“Thirtyfour highlights an imprinted memory and acknowledges the nature of the material, combining Caesarstone surfaces and the Quartz material in a unique interpretation.”

— Rona Meyuchas Koblenz

“The series designed by Rona pushes the limits of the material, allowing unique interpretations of intuitive designs displaying the luxurious, sleek look of natural stone together with the functionality of Caesarstone.”

— Eli Feiglin, VP of marketing Caesarstone

  • Inspiration

Caesarstone is a leading Quartz surfaces manufacturer, they commissioned me to create an installation that will reveal their new colours to the design and specifiers industry. I was inspired by the nature of the Quartz and the manufacturing methods in the quarry.

  • The algorithm

The shape was designed using lines, connected together, resulting in a subtle curve.
The fabrication technology allows the algorithm drawing to cut the exact shapes in different sizes, from 5cm to 700cm

  • Shape

I have designed three basic shapes inspired by the material and the cutting methods in the quarry.

  • Shapes

The inspiration throughout the design process was the natural quartz shape, the mining methods and the variety of thirty four different textures and colours.

  • Stone garden

The 400 shapes came in different sizes, floating in the space, floor to ceiling creating three dimensional experience

  • Technology & Craft

The small size slabs were CNC cut in Caesarstone factory and carefully inlayed in the wooden floor. The inlay craft is hand made in Bristol, UK.

  • Production at the factory

The surfaces, 400 shapes in total were CNC cut at the factory near Caesaria, Israel.

  • Assembly

I managed the whole production, assembly and set up of the installation including the logistics side of it with the packaging company so when the crates arrived at the event, they were easily disassembled and organized for the event set up

  • From 2D to 3D experience

Visitors were able to walk upon the stones, which were beautifully inserted into the timber floor, and gradually they rose up until they floated over, suspended from the ceiling, reflecting the initial path at ground level
